Checking in

Well the holidays are coming to an end and the New Year is about to usher itself in. We had a wonderful year and I am looking forward to a healthy happy 2012. I was very busy baking cakes and creating new cake pops for my wonderful clients. I made some super cute gingerbread people and a created a Harry Potter Bucket that made me proud. So much fun to see my ideas come to life.

The best Spice Cake ever!

After having tried this recipe I just knew this would have to be part of my cake pop menu. It is the best ever! I know you won't be disappointed. Give it a try and tell me what you think.

2 1/2 cups Organic flour sifted 1/2 tsp ground allspice
1/4 cup cornstarch 1/2 tsp ground cloves
4 teaspoon 1 cup milk
1/2 tsp salt 3 large eggs
2 tsp ground ginger 2 tsp Singing Dog Vanilla extract
1 tsp ground cinnamon 1 cup unsalted butter softened
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg 2 cups dark brown sugar

1.Adjust oven rack to middle and preheat to 350 degrees. Grease and lightly flour a 9x13 pan. Whisk dry ingredients and spices in a large bowl. Mix milk, eggs, and vanilla extract in a 2 cup measuring cup.

2.Beat softened butter into dry ingredients, first on low, then medium, until mixture forms pebble-sized pieces. Add about 1/3 of the milk mixture and beat on low until smooth. Add remaining milk mixture in two stages. Beat on medium speed until batter is just smooth. Add the sugar, beat until incorporated, about 30 secs. Pour batter into cake pan.

3. Bake until a cake tester (aka toothpick) come out clean. About 40 minutes. Set on wire rack to cool for 5 min. Run a knife around the cake edge and turn cake onto rack to cool. Enjoy!

Fun Stuff

This weekend was so much fun. I had some really cute orders to fill. I made the best Spice Cake I have ever had! I will be posting that recipe. I think everyone should have that in their little book of treasures. I also made a chocolate cake that knocked our socks off. Thanks to Red Ape Cinnamon that cake was Divine! I think the cake creations are as much fun as the cake pop decorating. Here are a few pics of what I did.

Here we gooooo!

This is ALL very new to me. Blogging has been a distant desire for me for sometime, but, with the new addition of my business I thought now would be a great time to jump in with both feet. I have been making cake pops for about a year and a half. I got started because my good friend Stephanie had made them for another great friends baby shower in the cupcake shapes. I loved them at first sight and knew that they had to be a part of my life. Sooo....off I went. Really, my intentions were to just fool around with these cute little creations and see what I could do. I made the Bee's knees for my girlfriends little girl. Her birthday was a bee theme. Perfect for my first event. After that I just had to brighten as many peoples lives as I could. These little creations make me happy so I had to pass it along. Eventually, I started getting request for my pops and low and behold the Cake Pauper was born. I am just sure anyone who has a love for making these pops has a very similar story as they are addicting and delish and catch on quick. If you see something you like or want to brighten someones life a little. Make them some cake pops. OR, you can order them from me and I will make them for you. Check out my prices and send me and email! Let's get poppin! Click on the FB link and check out our page! You can send me a message for orders.
